Te Hau Kāinga Project Team - Lachy Paterson

Lachy Paterson teaches te reo Māori and Māori history at Te Tumu: School of Māori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies at the University of Otago. He researches Māori history, in particular on Māori-language newspapers, literacy and the use of texts in the nineteenth century. 

His books include Colonial discourses: Niupepa Māori 1855-1863 (2006), and He Reo Wāhine: Māori women's voices from the nineteenth century (2017).

Lachy is Te Hau Kāinga project leader on the impact of the war on cultural change.
