Leighton Williams

Leighton is currently a Teaching Fellow in Te Tumu: School of Māori, Indigenous and Pacific Studies at the University of Otago.

In 2020/21 he completed a summer research project on the relationship between the personal experiences of rural Māori and the State during the post-war period. He focused on his grandmother’s experiences beginning from her birth in 1945, and her life in Pipiwai, Northland, until her transplantation into more urban environs in 1963.
